personally i blame it on 95$ tickets, think about it people gotta choose between food on the table and a gas to get to work or driving/flying to a race, hotel fares and tickets, not saying that the racing hasnt changed dramatically, but the economy has alot to do with it

@MurphyMonster If I had a machine that could bring people back to life, I’d bring Dale Earnhardt, Bill France Sr. and Bill France Jr. back to fix the sport and chew out that idiot Brian!

  • AngryGundamGamer:

@MurphyMonster You’re talking about Brian France right? Well if he knew what was best for the sport, he’d: Go back to the old system, make the cars more manufacture specific like the prior car, he’d allow them to race back to the caution (AT LEAST on tracks 1.5 miles in length or greater) and be more fan friendly! Winston was a cigarette company and they were better with the fans then Sprint Ever has been!

  • MurphyMonster:

@AngryGundamGamer I agree so much. You and i can just look at him and tell he is the dumbest son of a bitch alive.

  • ChevyCamaro33:

Pause at 2:50 and you see Earnhardt way in the back in turn 4. He’s completely out of contention…and less than 4 laps later…he’s taking the lead! Absolutely incredible.

  • DavidOrtiz36:

i miss this kind of racing so much… i can’t stand today’s nascar… its so boring… this was absolutly the kind of racing i tuned in for back in the day…

  • nascarsmyworld96:

its amazing at how few guys who were racing in 2000 are still racing full time. Bobby Labonte, Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Joe Nemechek, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, and Matt Kenseth. can’t believe how the times have changed for NASCAR and it sure hasn’t been for the better.

  • zmann2420:

THIS is how restrictor-plate racing should be everytime we see it.

  • suspectedmesa:

    @MIBFreakPack thanks that too

  • MIBFreakPack:

Notice, no yellow line, no problem. Also, Jr. should have done a little better at trying to get back up on the race track at 6:25. Fantastic finish by Mr. Talladega

  • MIBFreakPack:

@suspectedmesa you forget also that 3 races after the 2001 Daytona 500, Harvick, the replacement for Earnhardt’s car, wins his first cup race.

  • suspectedmesa:

notice how the 3 wins and the 33 finishes in 3rd and sr. got the lead as he ran 3 wide. sr. dies in the crash at the daytona 500 running 3 wide and finishes 12th 1+2=3. 3 years before that, sr. wins the 500 3 years after sr. dies , jr, wins the 500. 3 years after that, harvick, sr.’s replacement wins the 500 jr. wins his 3rd carer win at daytona in july 2001 at the track that his father died at… weird

  • justanothersun:

    that was a wicked race…

  • billace90:

I keep a 1:24 scale model of Dale Sr. Number 3 black Camaro in my desk. Dale, you were the best ever. Thank you for those races.

  • SPEEDSTER7201:

    6:25 EPIC FAIL!!!

  • MurphyMonster:

@AngryGundamGamer Exactly. He tries to force it to be entertaining by controling every aspect of it, including throwing cautions for nothing. Give back the true stock cars and let them race.

  • JDGDrift:

@cookieacdc24 i’m sure it’ll change up in the coming seasons as they get used to how the spoiler affects the car in different setups.

  • cookieacdc24:

@JDGDrift ya that 2 car draft has ruined how these races should be

  • JDGDrift:

@cookieacdc24 they are by a bit, COT nowadays gets up to about 204 mph at talladega in just a two car draft. average speed back then was probably 190ish.

  • cookieacdc24:

is it me or do they look like there goin slower than nowadays

  • ninjamario64pwnsnoob:

notice how there is no yellow line rule

  • skankuser:

@AngryGundamGamer The rule changes aren’t wrapped around JJ’s finger, but his team has been able to gain an advantage as to the way the rules are now. The CoT has made it where engines are where your advantages lie, if your stable has the tech for it, and Hendrick makes some of the best motors in NASCAR.

The issue of “safety” has robbed the sport of its heart. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t be allowed to race back to the caution, considering the safety improvements that have been made.

  • AngryGundamGamer:

@skankuser Overall I don’t blame JJ, its just that so many of the stupid rule changes and stupid points system are wrapped around JJ’s finger that its boring. Personally I think out here in the west, they should have one race in Fontana, the other should be at the nearby Irwindale Speedway, a short track that with given proper garage and more stands would be Cup worthy!

  • skankuser:

@timmybaby24 Dale Jr. could never race.

  • skankuser:

@AngryGundamGamer I wouldn’t blame Jimmie Johnson. Hell, Jeff Gordon won 13 races in 1998 and completely dominated, but people still came to the races. I would instead blame these constant rule changes and this shitty points system, as well as the schedule featuring nothing but cookie cutter tracks.
